SNMP is implemented as M2M API protocol, where NETIO device can use SNMP protocol allowing monitoring and control of NETIO power outputs (power sockets 230V or power outlets IEC-320 110/230V).

NETIO devices supports following SNMP versions:

  • v1,2c - SNMP v1 / v2c are allowing only status monitoring (On some devices Read only)
  • v3 - SNMP v3 is using authorization and encryption therefore allow monitoring and control each output (Read & Write).

SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) version 1 / version 2 is an UDP-based protocol for monitoring and management of networks and services. It can be used to collect status information about individual devices and send configuration change requests. The protocol is based on the Manager/Agent principle, where the Manager collects and processes data, and the Agent reacts to messages from the Manager and reports its status.

SNMP version 3 supports secure communication. Unlike SNMP v1 and v2, it uses username/password authentication and SSL encryption.

AN11: SNMP management of 110/230V power outlets from the command line in Windows and Linux

NETIO 4x electrical sockets (NETIO 4 / 4All / 4C) can be controlled over a LAN using the Telnet M2M API protocol and KSHELL commands. The NETIO AN10 Application Note demonstrates how to use Telnet to control individual sockets, gives a brief description of the KSHELL protocol and shows examples how to test the communication in Windows using several utilities.
